Head back to the ’90s for a tasty way to raise funds for the community and have fun at the same time. The Fresh Brews of Mount Joy, co-hosted by Voyage Mount Joy and YAH Brew Mount Joy, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The beer fest will take place along Main Street in Mount Joy, from Market Street to Marietta Avenue.
“We were tossing around ideas for fundraisers, and we knew we wanted to do something unique,” recalled Allory Melhorn, president of Voyage Mount Joy. “We are partnering with Justin Hoak of YAH Brew, and we came up with the idea of a brewfest.”
The festival will feature approximately 50 breweries from the local area and well beyond.
“We currently have 20 confirmed breweries, and they are from all across the country,” Melhorn said. “We also have one or two coming from Canada, so this is a mix of local, state, national and international participants.”
A variety of food vendors will set up along Main Street, and local band No Reply will offer live music during the event.
“They will be playing ’90s music, and since the whole brewfest is ’90s-themed, we encourage people to dress for the decade,” Melhorn said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Voyage Mount Joy and Donegal Athletic Club (DAC). Voyage Mount Joy is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the town through community events and resources. DAC is an organization with a mission to improve the experience of Donegal student-athletes, marching band members, families and alumni.
Melhorn encourages people to get tickets early for the brewfest, which he anticipates will be a popular event.
“If you are a beer connoisseur, you definitely want to come to this,” Melhorn said. “We are going to have beers people most likely haven’t tried before.”
The street will be closed to traffic during the duration of the event. Early bird pricing will be available for tickets through Friday, Jan. 31. After that date, general admission tickets and VIP tickets, which include early admission from 1 to 2 p.m., will be for sale. General admission tickets will admit people from 2 to 5 p.m. Designated driver tickets will be free.
The event is for people age 21 and older. On-site admission and entry point will be at Delta Street, across from the Mount Joy borough office.
