Donegal’s All-Star Athletes Impress Across Multiple Sports

The LNP recently published their list of all-stars as voted by the Lancaster-Lebanon League coaches, and several Donegal players made the cut. Donegal’s athletes shined this season across several sports, including stand-out performances from the basketball, wrestling, and swimming teams.  

For girls’ basketball, Remy White and Mia Wissler were recognized as section three second team all-stars, and Kathryn Fernald was recognized as the girls’ section three academic all-star. Remy White was also named defensive all-star for her section, and Donegal’s girls’ team was given the sportsmanship award.  

For the boys’ basketball team, Evyan Patel, Dutch Good, and Noah Rohrer were all named section three second team all-stars. 

The wrestling team was also recognized multiple times in the LNP’s list of all-stars. Noah Hinkel, Landon Keller, and Nicholai Brotzman all made section two first team, and Ruben Mumper made second team. An honorable mention was awarded to Caidyn Leaf, and Coach Andrew Hinkel was awarded Junior High Coach of the Year. 

Athletes on the wrestling and swimming teams competed in multiple championship tournaments this year, too. 

Nicholai Brotzman, Landon Keller, and Daniel Viselli all competed in the Class 3A sectionals. Brotzman and Viselli also competed in the District 3 championship tournament, along with Caidyn Leaf and Ruben Mumper. At the PIAA Class 3A wrestling finals, Brotzman made his state tournament debut.  

At the District Three Class 2A Swimming and Diving Championships, Emma Myers, Kylie Wilkinson, Sierra Houck, and Thomas Dohl Jr. all placed.  

Houck placed 2nd in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.60 seconds, and she placed 2nd in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.27 seconds. Wilkinson placed 6th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.53, and 8th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.56 seconds. Myers also swam the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.52, earning her 7th place, and she improved on her season-best time in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:36.84. Thomas Dohl Jr finished 18th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.65 and swam the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.95. 

Seniors Kylie Wilkinson and Sierra Houck went on to swim at the 2023 PIAA Girls 2A Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University.  

Houck recorded her personal best time in the consolation heat of the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.06 seconds, placing 13th in the event. She also swam the consolation 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.79. Wilkinson swam the 200-yard freestyle prelim with a time of 2:01.53.
